About the Gallery

The photographs in this gallery are all part of my first juried public (shared) exhibition, on display from November 9 through January 31 in the Lower Level Gallery of the Tempe Public Library. All photographs were exposed at the Phoenix Zoo with a Canon 300D camera and a Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III lens.

In the Monkey Village, there are no bars — and primates of different species are allowed to mix (somewhat) freely. This squirrel monkey wanted to know what I was up to.

Brother MacawsBrother Macaws

These two Scarlet Macaws shared a nest when they were eggs, and now share a perch in the Forest of Uco. They divide their time between grooming each other and bickering. Or are they joking…?

I very much miss Pima. She died a very old cat at the age of 20 on August 26, 2007. Her mate, Papago, died a couple years before her. I miss him, too.

I must admit, I have no idea what kind of bird this is. It lives in the zoo’s walk-in aviary, and its black-and-white plumage is especially striking in the direct sun.

My, what teeth!My, what teeth!

The scary part is that the Sumatran Tiger is the smallest of the tigers. The terrifying part is how few are left….

Bird BrainBird Brain

I had a girlfriend once who would have killed for eyelashes like these. She was quite a bit smarter than an ostritch, though.
